Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer and occurs when skin cells grow abnormally, often due to excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun. The three main types are basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma, with melanoma being the most serious.
