Hearing Aids vs Hearing Amplifiers?

Thinking about choosing a hearing amplifier to correct your hearing loss? A hearing amplifier cannot be compared directly with a hearing aid. Hearing amplifiers feature a microphone and an amplifier. In terms of structure and shape they are very similar to conventional hearing aids. However, they only increase the volume of sound and cannot be adapted to your individual hearing loss or personal preferences. Hearing amplifiers are not prescribed by doctors and are usually purchased without specialist advice. Hearing Care professionals recommend hearing aids for those affected by hearing loss and will help you take your first steps towards better hearing.

Release of Tension Due to Injury or Trauma

When injuries to the body are as a result of impact, muscles around the site reflexively contract to protect you from the trauma. If the trauma is physically or emotionally significant, the shock to the body may result in the protective muscular contraction becoming habituated. Our brain behaves as if the injury is still happening and we develop what is known in Somatics as Sensory Motor Amnesia. This body–brain disconnect causes us to forget how to sense and move our muscles. Somatics Gentle Body Movement Classes re-educate the brain to release muscular tension and relax muscles back to their correct resting length without discomfort or painful stretching.

Regenerate Your Back

Ozone therapy in combination with injection therapy results in about 75% of chronic pain sufferers to become permanently pain free. Chronic pain occurs in areas of the body that contain ligaments, cartilage or articular surfaces which typically have only 1/10th the circulation that is seen in other connective tissues. This makes them especially vulnerable to the effects of decreased oxygen utilization and aging, which further compromises circulation. When these areas become traumatized a significant amount of edema and inflammation only serve to further decrease circulation. Prolozone therapy with natural anti-inflammatory medications, vitamins & minerals gives the tissues what they need to heal.

Your Health Through Participation

Health and wellness are by-products of a life focused and ripe with meaning, and full of engagement with others in the creation of a beautiful world. Wise individuals have demonstrated an elegant unconcern for their own problems (physical or circumstantial) combined with a commitment to the wellbeing of others. This results in an observable radiance, strength of character, wisdom and, a remarkable ability for compassion. Focusing on self-health is fascinating, but also isolating, expensive, and time consuming. Overconcern for one’s personal health imprisons, limits possibilities, creative expression and loving relationships. The equation is basic: in serving others, we serve ourselves.

What Causes Flat Feet?

Flat feet or “fallen arches” are caused chiefly by weak flexor muscles. The major flexor muscles of the foot are meant to propel you forward by pushing against the earth behind you as you walk or run barefoot. However, lifelong use of shoes allows these muscles to atrophy and become weak. As these muscles weaken, they stretch out, allowing the ball of the foot to creep forward, resulting in the eventual collapse of the underside of the foot. Custom orthotics or dynamic rehabilitative orthotics are designed to recruit and strengthen the flexor muscles while you stand, walk, or run.

Tendon Injuries

Tendinopathies are one of the most common injuries individuals seek treatment for (i.e. tennis elbow, achilles tendinopathy). They can be debilitating and ongoing as they tend not to improve with time and rest. Research is mixed on the best treatment for tendinopathies, however, one trend emerging is the that rehab programs should be focused on improving the capacity of the muscle and tendon to manage load. This means, in addition to hands-on therapy, a progressive tendon loading exercise program is key to full recovery. Physiotherapy can help break the negative cycle of these overuse injuries and prevent recurrence.

The Benefits of Massage for Children

Kids are flexible and bounce back from injury more quickly than adults, so we don’t often think about giving them massages. But massage therapy has many benefits for children. Massage lowers stress hormones—and stress is a big problem for kids in our fast-moving, achievement-oriented society. Massage can help calm children, giving them all the benefits of reduced stress, including better sleep and a lower risk of developing the many diseases that can result from stress. Massage also helps increase range of motion and decrease tension in the muscles, helping active children recover from physical injuries more quickly and prevent future injuries.

Maintenance is Key

Just like natural teeth, dentures wear down over time. Your mouth and jaw experience change over time as well, so your dentures may become ill fitting. It is wise to see your denturist at least once a year to ensure your dentures continue to fit well and work properly. In most cases and with optimum care, dentures should last between 5 and 10 years, but may require adjusting or relining within that time frame. Being proactive with denture care is always more effective than waiting until you have a major problem and trying to backtrack.
