Kansa Vatki Foot Massage

Kansa Vatki Foot Massage works with Marma points, pressure or reflex points as in reflexology. These points work the receptors in the feet and lower leg which corresponds with major organs in the body. There are 107 Marma points, which form vital energy meridians running throughout the body. Several of these Marma points are worked on the legs & feet (the true place of ‘prana’ – the body’s vital energy), stimulating the body’s own innate ability to rebalance and harmonize the ‘doshas’.

Another important part of Kansa Vatki Foot Massage is the small bowl that has been carefully prepared with metals of copper, and zinc. Copper is known for its anti-inflammatory properties that help relieve joint pain. Zinc is known for its antiseptic properties in treating and preventing skin disorders. The Kansa Vatki bowl balances the energies of Vata, Pitta and Kapha, detoxifies and draws out excess heat from your body.

Viewing Our Life as a Spiritual Teacher

There is an old Buddhist proverb…”When the student is ready, the teacher and lessons appear”.

With all the unrest and negativity in the world today it is easy to become disillusioned and disgruntled with life. Seeing the world through a loving lens can be challenging at times…but when you can embrace it, it offers meaning and purpose in our lives. Our life is a mirror that reflects and shows us exactly what is working and highlights old patterns, addictions, beliefs that aren’t working as well as they could. It is up to us to change, uncover, heal and transform old patterns to bring forward new opportunities to embody our greatness and compassion for ourselves and others. When we boldly step into the fire of our life, embrace it with an open heart and a firm yes, taking full responsibility for our growth and learning, doors open and opportunity is provided to grow spiritually.

Ask Your Life Coach

Kelly from St. James asks: I feel like I am frozen in time. I’m stuck in a rut. I can’t seem to move for fear or apprehension about what people will think of me. What if I say the wrong thing? What if I don’t have the right answer or an answer at all? What will they think of me? What if they don’t like me, or what I am sharing? I want people to like me and hear what I have to say but…what if?”

Coach Gina: I have one thing for you to ponder: What people think of you, is none of your business!”

Strengthen your Core

If you are a woman and have had children, did you go to a pre-natal course? Have you heard of ‘kegel’ exercises or ‘diaphragmatic’ breathing? Both, can help you perform better, sit better and improve your ‘core’ strength. Women and men have a supportive ‘bowl’ of muscles in the pelvis; by contracting them, tightening your gut, stopping the flow of urine, you are kegeling! When sitting, standing, or lying on the couch, do your kegels to initiate your core workouts. When you breathe deeply into your gut, you are pushing down with your diaphragm, expanding your thorax and pushing the air into the lower lungs. These lower lobes of the lungs contain the richest areas of oxygen-blood exchange. Train better, expand your belly and control your breathing effort…again, using part of your core!

Combat Depression with Acupuncture

Depression is a mood disorder characterized by both physical and psychological symptoms that can be detrimental to one’s normal daily functioning. Depressed individuals often suffer from poor sleeping habits, crying spells, anxiety, worry, poor memory, inability to concentrate, body aches, stomach disturbances and a lack of interest in activities previously enjoyed. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) does not recognize depression as a particular illness, but it aims to treat the specific symptoms that are unique to the individual. Acupuncture works primarily on treating the underlying cause of depression and rebalancing both the body and the mind to eliminate the root of the problem. It does this by unblocking vital Qi (energy), and increases the production of endorphins, leading to deep relaxation and reduction in stress and anxiety. Acupuncture also increases energy and overall wellbeing without any side effects.

Cold, Flu and Virus Protection

Would you like to minimize your risk of infection and naturally treat symptoms if you do get a cold or flu this winter? Well you can! Science has shown that certain nutrients act to block or inhibit the process that a virus needs to replicate, multiply and infect the body. Vitamin A is necessary to maintain the mucus barrier in the airways and acts as an antioxidant. It is critical in the development of white blood cells and specialized attack cells of the immune system. Selenium has been shown to be essential in the production of glutathione, which interferes and limits viral replication. Lipoic Acid also fights against viral attack and replication. Vitamin D has incredible anti-microbial effects. It produces many peptides which help to attack viruses, bacteria and fungi. These are just a few of the essential elements that the body needs to fight off a viral attack. They can be taken individually or in combination form such as, Bio-Immunozyme Forte or Ultra Vir-X. With the help of these nutrients you can boost your immune system and minimize the effects of the colds, flus and viruses that we are exposed to over the winter.

How Many Hours a Day Do You Spend Sitting?

While we’re at work, most of us spend the majority of our day firmly planted in an office chair glued to the computer. What about after work? Reading, driving, watching TV–all that sitting adds up, especially if you have poor posture. But what does all that sitting do to your body? Most of us already know; sore back, stiff neck, tight shoulders, and maybe even sore wrists and fingers. These types of complaints are often associated with repetitive stress injuries that arise from our daily activities, improper work station set up, and bad posture! Repositioning your computer, desk, or chair, taking mini breaks, stretching, and paying attention to your seated posture at home are key elements in avoiding these types of injuries. Regular chiropractic care can help alleviate pain and restore good posture by relieving mechanical stresses caused by daily activities at work or at home.
