Meet Your Practitioner – Anna Christine Doehring

As a young woman, Anna Christine wanted to pursue a career helping people achieve health. Twenty years ago, she returned to her passion. She searched for a modality that addresses the root cause of health issues; one that could quickly help the body return to balance, wholeness and health. She became certified in Reflexology, JinShinDo® Acupressure and others and was told that she has “healing hands”. Once she discovered Reconnective Healing®, which balances us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, she found her true calling. When one is in a state of balance, health problems can fall away. She has helped hundreds of clients achieve better health; improvements include mental clarity, less or no pain, better sleep and more energy.

What is Diabesity?

Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes have become worldwide pandemics. They are so common, doctors often refer to them as “Diabesity”. The pandemics prove conventional treatment for diabesity is not working, Counting carbohydrates and calories only is not enough to combat insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. The more overweight we are, the more fertile the ground is for diabetes to develop. The more processed food we ingest, with its colouring, flavour enhancers and hidden sugars, the more our waistlines increase. The less we exercise, the more lethargic our insides get, the more toxic our bodies become. We can halt or reverse this trend personally and globally. By changing daily eating and exercise habits, diabesity can be undone. Is it time for you to take action and control of your life? All it takes is a conscious decision and determination. There is help available to assist you along the way!

Caring for Fine Lingerie

When you have found a well-fitting bra, you want to take good care of it. It should be hand washed in warm water with a detergent made especially for fine lingerie. Do not use bleach, fabric softener or wool wash soap. Soak for about five minutes to let the deodorants, perspiration and oils dissolve, then agitate and rinse. Do not wring. If you must use your washing machine, wash on the delicate cycle and use a washing bag to protect your bra. Bras should never be put into the dryer. Dry by hanging them from the centre front panel or lay flat.

Adventures with Dad

I bought my Dad a pair of socks. He is elderly and was not impressed that I was bringing him another pair of socks. He was probably hoping for chocolates! I just put the socks in his dresser drawer. A few days later, I was away on vacation so Dad calls my sister and says “I want more of those socks”. At first, she didn’t pay much attention because she knew he has lots of socks. When he asked her again, she took him more seriously. It turns out that Dad wears his new sock to bed every night and they calm his restless legs. Dad now has enough of these great socks to last him a week. His old socks are for sale.

Nothing Tastes as Good as Health and Longevity!

Chronic stress attacks our weaknesses and, like a bucket slowly filling with water one drop at a time, it will eventually overflow. When it does, it can have physical effects like high blood pressure or heart disease, or emotional ones like depression and anxiety. A counsellor can help you identify your stressors and determine how to manage them. This can include developing daily habits known for combatting stress like meditation, exercise, becoming more assertive and letting go. Look for a counsellor with a caring, non-judgemental approach combined with a compassionate ear and a kind heart. You can add health and longevity to your life.

Concussion Can Happen Anywhere

We hear a lot about concussions and professional sports, but concussions can also happen in minor sport and rec leagues. Today scientists are actively trying to determine the optimal way to recover from concussions. We tend to associate concussions with head trauma, like in hockey or football but don’t realize that concussions can occur without head trauma. If you are playing any sport and experience ear ringing, headaches, light sensitivity, blurred vision, irritability, changes in sleep patterns, or difficulty focusing attention or concentrating, you may have a concussion. If you notice these symptoms in yourself or someone you know, get assessed by a doctor.

Seniors Matter – Let’s Celebrate Aging!

We often hear the negative about seniors in our society rather than celebrating them! Seniors offer wisdom and life experience integral to the fabric of a vibrant community. They contribute by shopping, usage of services (keep people employed) and by paying taxes. Seniors volunteer and make more charitable donations than any other age group. Many organizations could not function without them. Additionally, they help with babysitting, caregiving for spouses and friends, ultimately helping others to successfully “age in place”. Please take the time to acknowledge the contributions made by seniors. By making our community more age-friendly, we can all play a role in inspiring more intergenerational understanding and connection.
