Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for our membership to help out with activities to make our programs a success. We have people act as escorts on our bus trips or help out setting up or serving our monthly lunches. Pickleball nets do not set themselves up. Remember we are a club of people that look out for each other, and volunteering is an important way to give back!
Annual memberships are just $30. For more information, call 204-416-1067 or email [email protected]

Avoid Chewing Ice in Hot Weather

While chewing ice may seem refreshing during scorching summer days, it poses a significant risk to your dental health. Each time you crunch down on ice, your teeth are vulnerable to chipping, cracking, or even shattering. In severe cases, a cracked tooth may require extraction if the damage extends below the gum line. Don’t let a dental emergency ruin your summer vacation. Opt for a safer alternative to stay hydrated: reach for a refreshing glass of cool water. Preserve your smile and savor the season with healthy choices!

Ask The Expert

Q: I’m travelling overseas next month on vacation and am trying to decide between bringing contact lenses or glasses. What should I do? A: Consider both if your vision is comparable. Daily disposable contact lenses are great for hygiene and convenient for travelling, and some even have built-in UV protection. Long flights, as well as airborne allergens and irritants, may necessitate eyeglasses just as much. Your vacation will be more enjoyable if your vision is good and your eyes are healthy and protected. Come see us for your vision care needs, and we can help you make the best decision for your specific situation.

Choosing a Mental Health Practitioner

Mental health practitioners in BC range in knowledge, expertise and experience. When seeking assistance, this range of ability can make it difficult to understand a practitioner’s level of competence. This is why regulation of this profession is so important. To better protect the public, there is a desire to regulate the profession, which will hopefully happen in the near future. Meanwhile, when looking for assistance, it is important to research mental health professionals. Discuss their level of education, experience, certifications/registrations and to what associations and/or colleges they belong to and are held accountable for their conduct.

Dentures for Comfort and Function

Properly fitted dentures are essential for confidence and comfort as well as for chewing and digestion. Well-made dentures are esthetically pleasing and enable individuals with missing teeth to effectively chew their food. The process of chewing stimulates saliva production and signals the digestive system to prepare for food intake. Just like natural teeth, dentures aid in the mechanical breakdown of food, facilitating easier digestion and nutrient absorption. Having dentures that can perform this task is extremely important. Equally important is having dentures that are comfortable and that give you the confidence to enjoy life without worrying about your dentures.

BC Home Buyer Rescission Period

Effective January 2023, the BC Government introduced the “cooling-off period” on real estate sales. This gives buyers three (3) business days to change their mind on a purchase, allowing them to cancel for no reason within those three (3) days. If implemented, the buyer must pay the seller 0.25% of the sale price. Today’s market has already cooled somewhat, with most offers including conditions that go beyond three (3) days. On the occasional, unconditional sale, the period must be considered by the seller. Questions on Real Estate? Contact Tony
