March is National Social Workers Month, a time to recognize the vital role social workers play in supporting individual and community well-being. Social workers are trained professionals who work at the intersection of mental health, family systems, culture, and social environments. As counsellors and therapists, they provide compassionate, evidence-informed support to help people navigate stress, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. Social workers also act as skilled connectors who bridge clients to other essential services such as medical care, legal support, mediation, and community resources. Grounded in ethics, social justice, and a strengths-based approach, social workers help people access care, navigate complex systems, and build resilience in meaningful, lasting ways.

Heart Health, Naturally Refreshed
Heart health begins with simple daily habits, and staying well hydrated is one of the most important. VitaJuwel’s GemWater Crystal Bottles transform ordinary water into a mindful wellness ritual, blending hydration with the subtle energetic influence of hand selected gemstones such as rose quartz, garnet, and amethyst. Traditionally associated with love, balance, and vitality, these crystals are thoughtfully arranged in a sealed glass vial, ensuring water remains pure while gently infused. Drinking enough water supports healthy circulation, blood pressure regulation, and overall cardiovascular function. With VitaJuwel GemWater, nourishing your heart becomes both intentional and beautifully inspiring.
Heart Health, Hearing Health
Healthy aging starts with caring for both your heart and your hearing. Research shows a strong connection between cardiovascular health and hearing health. The inner ear relies on steady blood flow to deliver oxygen and nutrients, and reduced circulation can damage delicate hair cells, leading to hearing loss. Supporting heart health through regular exercise, a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, stress management and quitting smoking can also help protect hearing. Conditions such as high blood pressure can affect blood flow to the ears, making regular checkups essential. At Beltone, we support healthy aging with free hearing assessments and innovative hearing solutions to help you hear your best at every stage of life.

How Counselling Supports Children’s Wellbeing
After a child experiences stress or hardship, parents often wonder, “Do they really need counselling if they seem fine?” It’s an important question and the truth is, that while counselling can be helpful for anyone, for children who’ve faced challenges, it can be especially valuable. Even when kids appear to be coping well, the effects of those experiences can surface later.
These difficult experiences are sometimes called Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). They include things like family conflict, separation, loss, neglect, witnessing violence, or living with someone who struggles with addiction or mental illness. Research shows that ACEs can affect how a child’s brain and body develop, increasing their risk for emotional, behavioral, and even physical health challenges later in life. The good news is that with the right support, children can heal and counselling plays a big part in that process. Counselling helps children build coping skills, process difficult emotions, and feel safe. At the same time, a strong, supportive relationship with a parent or caregiver is just as important. Sometimes that means parents seeking support or counselling for themselves, so they can show up at their best for their child. Together, these supports create the foundation for a child’s wellbeing.
Even when past experiences are not talked about openly, their effects can show up as:
• Trouble focusing or learning
• Acting out or withdrawing
• Anxiety, sadness, or anger
• Low confidence or self-esteem
• Difficulty sleeping or physical complaints
Counselling provides a safe and supportive space for children to share what they’re feeling.. through words, play, or creative activities at their own pace. A trained counsellor helps children make sense of their experiences, understand their emotions, and learn healthy ways to cope. This process helps them begin to rebuild trust, confidence, and a sense of safety.
Over time, children who participate in counselling often:
• Feel calmer and more in control
• Communicate better with family and friends
• Improve their mood and school performance
• Develop stronger problem-solving and coping skills
• Build resilience to handle life’s challenges
Counselling also supports caregivers and families. Parents are often included in parts of the process, learning practical ways to respond to their child’s emotions, set healthy boundaries, and create a more supportive home environment.
Counselling isn’t just for children in crisis – it’s an opportunity to strengthen emotional health and prevent problems from becoming bigger down the road. By helping children understand and manage their feelings, counselling can improve relationships, boost confidence, and support lifelong well-being.
