Supporting Someone with Depression

Chances are you know someone who is struggling with depression and want to know how to help them. Here are some things you can do to offer support: 1) Validate their condition and let them feel heard. 2) Avoid telling them to think positively or shaming them. Instead, try to focus on positive things in your conversations with them. 3) Encourage them to adhere to their medication schedule, since it can take time for medications to work. 4) Suggest that they keep a journal to write about their feelings and keep track of medication progress and their mood.

We Can All Use a Little More Joy

After hosting more than 400 spa parties in Saskatoon, I’ve seen how laughter, play, and creativity transform any group. Guests enjoy playful treatments like hand and foot soaks or funny face masks, then dive into making spa products together. What begins with careful measuring and “Am I doing this right?” quickly shifts into giggles, connection, and that spark of pride in what they’ve created. These aren’t just parties, they’re reminders that joy is healing, laughter is powerful, and connection truly matters. Spa Like a Boss: mildly hilarious, wildly entertaining.

Silent Struggle: Hearing Loss Dangers

Recent research shows a concerning connection between hearing loss and an increased risk of falls, particularly among older individuals. Hearing impairment can affect spatial awareness and balance, making it challenging to detect potential hazards and maintain stability. Falls can lead to severe consequences, including fractures and head injuries. However, the good news is that addressing hearing loss through regular screenings and assistive technologies can significantly reduce these risks. Promoting awareness, routine check-ups, and a stigma-free approach to hearing aids can empower individuals to proactively manage hearing loss, enhancing both their quality of life and overall safety.
