Good Nutrition & Digestion = Good Health
No matter how clean, organic, and healthy you eat, if your body isn’t able to digest, absorb, and process essential nutrients properly, you are not benefitting from your efforts.
To do this, your stomach needs to fully digest, your intestines need to completely absorb, and your liver needs to properly process the food you eat.
One of the simplest ways to correct and improve any issue you may have with the digestive process is through nutritional testing.

Dementia Online Support Groups
Being diagnosed with dementia raises uncertainty, fears, and unknowns. The Alzheimer Society is a place to turn for a community of services, support and experts that can help ease some of these concerns. One way to feel connected is through our weekly virtual support groups both for people living with dementia and for their care partners. It’s a great way to connect, interact with and learn from others in a safe environment where you can share, laugh, and help each other through mutual understanding. How is Your Cardiovascular Health?

Tips for Staying Mentally Sharp

Meals on Wheels
Check our website regularly to see special monthly meals! A healthy, warm and delicious meal cooked fresh daily and delivered to your door. Meals are cooked at the Centre, Monday to Friday. Whether it has become harder for you to cook for yourself, or you want to add some variety to your life, this program is perfect for you! Purchase meals whenever you’d like or sign up for weekly or monthly delivery. We have two Meals on Wheels programs running out of Steinbach and Grunthal. Meals may be purchased for $7 for delivery (residents of Steinbach & Grunthal) or pickup. A meal includes soup, a main dish, sides, and dessert. Please call 204-320-4600 with any questions or to order a meal. To receive a same day meal, you must call before 9 am.
Let’s Play Badminton!
Are you interested in playing badminton with others in an indoor gym environment? The Pat Porter Active Living Centre has our gym available for badminton Tuesday evenings starting in February from 6:30 – 8 pm. Registration happening online over SignUp. Please visit our website to access the link.
Old Time Country Dance
Join us on Friday, February 25 from 8-11:30 pm for an evening filled with dancing and fun! Featuring music by the talented Northern Reflections band, this is an event you do not want to miss! Tickets are $12 for members or $15 for non-members and may be purchased ahead of time at the Pat Porter Active Living Centre or at the door. We hope to see you there! Please note this event is subject to public health regulations and may have to be cancelled.
Community Resources
Our Community Resource program offers a Transportation Program to help you get to and from appointments or run errands in Steinbach and Winnipeg. A fee is associated with this program and rides are dependent on availability of volunteer drivers. Our Equipment Loan program provides you with a wheelchair, walker or cane with the referral of a health care professional. Equipment can only be loaned to a client living in a private residence for up to 3 months. Our Friendly Visitor program connects you with a volunteer that visits with you on a regular basis. We also provide ERIK kits which help you keep important medical information in one place in the event of an emergency. Please call us today if you require these resources.
