Protect Yourself from Hearing Loss
Are you doing everything possible to protect yourself from hearing loss? There are “three pillars” of hearing loss prevention. #1: Proactive Health Management – Diabetes and high blood pressure are two common health conditions that, if not appropriately managed, may pose a risk to your hearing health. #2: Smart Buying Decisions -Products such as lawn mowers, leaf blowers and hair dryers can generate dangerous noise levels. #3: Protection from Noise -Protecting your hearing from noise is one of the easiest things you can do, and it doesn’t have to cost a lot. Inexpensive foam earplugs provide adequate protection in many noisy situations.
Want to Look Your Best?
With the holidays around the corner, we all want to look our best. An IPL™ Photofacial can effectively improve skin texture, eliminate discolorations, reduce pore size, and minimize wrinkles and fine lines. Photofacials use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to penetrate deep into the skin causing collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis to constrict, reducing redness and age lines. It is used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including acne scars, broken capillaries and spider veins, rosacea, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. This quick, 30 minute procedure is a convenient option for people with busy schedules.

Trouble Falling Asleep?
If you have trouble falling asleep, here is something that you may not know. The National Sleep Foundation suggests warm feet when going to bed sends a signal to your brain that it is bedtime. Sleep research indicates a correlation between falling asleep quickly and increased blood dilation in our extremities. Another thing that may keep you from sleep is Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS), a condition that causes an uncontrollable urge to move your legs. Today there are socks with built in technology that will not only keep your feet warm but may provide relief from restless leg syndrome.
Live Theatre: Lumberjacks in Love
Four burly lumberjacks live in a state of manly bliss 200 miles from the nearest woman – until one of them accidentally orders himself a mail-order bride! She interrupts their simple shanty life and turns it upside down. This slap-happy tale brings big belly laughs and pure silliness as we watch to see if romance will bloom where bath time might be once a month and the only thing that brings these big, burly boys running is the sound of the dinner bell! On stage October 18 to November 2nd.
Be Aware of the Risk Factors
In today’s stress-riddled world, maintaining a balanced lifestyle is quite challenging, and so is staving off addictive behaviours like gambling. Be aware of the risk factors. These include having experienced a big win early in our gambling history
and/or having had a recent loss or change and/or financial difficulties. Gambling behaviour is concerning when used as an escapist activity, anxiety-relief and/or when it distracts us from our families and health. You have more control over your life than you realize. In fact, recognizing a problem is powerful and is the first step in healing. Reach out for help!

Changes of the Season
The leaves are turning, the wind is brisk, autumn has come. With it comes the sense of quiet that settles in like leaves on the forest floor. However, it is important that we do not settle back into old habits. Keeping pace with new hobbies and social activities which are known to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and osteoporosis, is important in long term health goals. Don’t let the change in season stop you from being your best!
