Alopecia, a condition causing hair loss, can significantly impact self-esteem and quality of life. Wigs offer an effective solution for those experiencing alopecia, providing a sense of normalcy and confidence. Modern wigs come in various styles, colors, and materials, including synthetic and human hair options, making it easier to achieve a natural look. Custom-fitted wigs ensure comfort and a secure fit, allowing individuals to go about their daily activities without worry. Beyond aesthetics, wigs can also protect the scalp from sun exposure and environmental elements. Overall, wigs serve as a practical and empowering option for managing the effects of alopecia.
Stay Active Safely in the Heat
It’s important to stay active all year long, but in the heat it’s especially important to do it in a safe way. Refrain from strenuous physical activities in hot/humid conditions outdoors, particularly if you are not used to the conditions or are not used to being physically active.
Make sure to wear loose fitting, lightweight, clothing outdoors, and stay hydrated. As we get older, we do not notice thirst as much which increases the risk for dehydration which can be very dangerous! Don’t wait until you feel thirsty, drink lots of fluids, especially during exercise.
And if you’re out and about and need a cool spot to take a break, come join us in our air-conditioned facility – we always have activities and events on the go!

Exercise Your Brain
Just as physical exercise strengthens your body, mental exercise enhances brain function and reduces the risk of cognitive decline with age. Engage in strategic games like chess or bridge, and word games like Scrabble. Solve crossword puzzles or number puzzles like Sudoku. Read challenging newspapers and books. Develop the habit of learning new things, such as recipes, driving routes, or a musical instrument. Enroll in a course on an unfamiliar subject. The more you stimulate and engage your brain, the more you’ll continue learning and reap significant benefits.
Spotlight on Local Research
Are you interested in learning about the latest advancements in dementia research happening right here in Manitoba? Heat-Induced Asthma Attacks
Summer heat can pose challenges for individuals with asthma. The combination of hot weather, high humidity, and air pollution can trigger asthma symptoms and exacerbate respiratory issues. Heat and humidity can cause airways to constrict, making it harder to breathe. Pollutants and allergens can also become more prevalent during the summer, further aggravating asthma symptoms. It is crucial for asthmatics to take preventive measures, such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to extreme heat, and seeking shade or air-conditioned environments when necessary. Additionally, following a prescribed asthma management plan, taking medications as directed, and keeping rescue inhalers on hand are essential for managing asthma during the summer months.

The Benefits of PEMF for Anti-aging
PEMF therapy offers significant anti-aging benefits by addressing cellular breakdown and enhancing repair processes. Magnetic waves penetrate every cell, reaching even the bone marrow, and induce microcurrents that increase metabolic efficiency. This enhanced cellular function boosts the absorption of nutrients and water while aiding the elimination of carbon dioxide and toxins. Effective anti-aging and health maintenance require four key elements: adequate energy levels, proper building blocks for cell regeneration, identification and elimination of toxic imbalances, and a strong will to improve health. PEMF therapy supports these aspects by increasing cellular voltage and promoting better nutrient absorption.
