It will take place Wednesday, June 28 from 7 pm – 8:30 pm at the amazing in-house theatre of our Host Partner – Berwick Parksville Retirement Community. Time to Celebrate You

Summer is here – let’s enjoy it! It is a time to celebrate you and the joy of being alive. Is there something holding you back from really celebrating? Are you carrying a few extra pounds that you are ready to release? When you release trapped emotions around food the result is a lower number on your scale. A Certified Body/Emotion Code Practitioner can help you release those negative emotions that cause you to eat unhealthy foods. Call today for an appointment and make it your best summer yet.

Weight Training is Important

Weight training becomes increasingly important as we age for several reasons: *Muscle mass naturally declines as we age which can lead to decreased mobility, strength and overall health. Weight training can help to slow this decline by maintaining and building muscle mass. *Weight training can improve bone density, reducing the risk of fractures and osteoporosis. * Weight training can improve balance and coordination, reducing the risk of falls and injuries. It’s never too late to start weight training. With proper guidance and a well-designed program, weight training can be safe and effective for individuals of all ages and fitness levels.

Reduce the Risk of Skin Cancer

Between 40% and 50% of Canadians over age 65 will have skin cancer at least once! With warmer days ahead of us, it’s important to practice sun safety when it comes to protecting our skin and enjoying the long summer days. Here are a few precautions: *Avoid the hottest time of the day. *Seek shade. *Wear protective clothing. *Use sunblock and re-applied every two hours and after water activities. *Know the signs of skin cancer – Seniors should ask their doctor to conduct an annual skin cancer assessment. Early detection is critical for treating skin cancer quickly and effectively.

3 Key Factors of Physical Health

There are three key factors when it comes to our physical health; Fitness, Food and Mindset. Fitness or any activity that gets you moving is important but not in the way you might think. Focusing on muscle growth and cardiovascular performance is WAY more important than how many calories you burn. You can’t out-train a bad diet. Therefore, focus on whole foods, eat your veggies and good quality fats and proteins. Lastly, our mindset can be what unconsciously drives our behavior, so unless limiting beliefs are addressed, they can lead you back to old habits that won’t help you reach your goals.

Book Club: The Five Second Rule

In The 5 Second Rule: Transform Your Life, Work, and Confidence with Everyday Courage, Mel Robbins talks about an important tool that can help readers learn to push themselves, instead of relying on teachers, friends, parents, coaches, and mentors for motivation. Find out what makes a “push moment” and how it will enrich your life and move you forward on the path to success. This powerful tool takes just five seconds and once it becomes a habit, is a simple but effective solution when it comes to our tendency to hold ourselves back and keep ourselves from happiness.

Words To Live By

Father’s Day is for every guy who holds nothing back…who gives his heart, soul, and energy to those he cares about and still finds a way to love them more every single day. —Andrew Blackburn

Hailey’s Horoscope

Full moon in May brings POLARITY, and could be an emotional time. You might be questioning yourself- do I transform or do I stay where I am and form a concrete path? You might also notice that you are struggling between sharing yourself, your posessions, your ideas. This is all due to the polarity of where the moon is positioned this month. If you notice this struggle between emotional opposites, try to go inward and make a pact with your emotions…let it all out, express yourself, notice the polarity battles inside of you and release it all with this full moon.
