April is Oral Health Month

Oral health is important for everyone, including denture wearers. Gum disease, dental decay, and tooth loss are some of the main problems that denture wearers experience, so it is important to take good care of your gums, any remaining natural teeth, and to keep your partial or complete denture(s) clean and properly fitted! If gums, natural teeth, partials, and complete dentures are not cleaned properly, you are likely to experience a build-up of plaque, leading to bad breath, cavities, gum disease and further tooth loss. Denturists and dental hygienists play an integral role in the maintenance of your oral health. Be sure to book an appointment today.

Welcoming New Physicians

Seasons Medical Centre is pleased to welcome two new physicians who are now accepting patients. Dr. Tarun Prashar specializes in mental health and chronic disease care. A graduate of the University of Manitoba in 2016, he previously worked in a teaching clinic and is happy to once again provide care in Winnipeg. Dr. Eisha Mehta focuses on women’s health. She completed medical school at the University of Limerick in Ireland and practiced as a family physician in Ottawa since 2019, including work at The Ottawa Hospital. After moving to Winnipeg in 2025, she looks forward to caring for patients and supporting community wellness.

Hearing Loss and Balance

Hearing loss is one of several factors that can cause falls. Individuals who have even a mild degree of hearing loss are three times as likely to experience accidental falls. Studies have shown that wearing hearing aids improves balance compared to an individual who does not wear hearing aids, but who has hearing loss. There are three major ideas for why hearing loss can affect our balance: 1) hearing loss causes less awareness of our environment, which means less awareness of people or activities around us; 2) hearing loss decreases spatial awareness, which makes it harder to know where you are compared to your surroundings; and 3) hearing loss uses more brain energy, which means there is less energy for balance.

Mothers Day Wellness Blooms

Flowers do more than look beautiful. They uplift mood, reduce stress, and create moments of joy, making them a perfect wellness gift for Mother’s Day. Fresh flowers can brighten a room, encourage relaxation, and remind someone they are appreciated. Choosing flowers from a local florist ensures high quality blooms, thoughtful arrangements, and personal service. Local florists carefully design each bouquet to suit the occasion and help you select flowers that reflect love and gratitude. Ordering early also ensures the best selection. This Mother’s Day, give the gift of wellness with fresh flowers that nurture happiness, and make Mom feel truly special. M.O.M. – Made Only for Mom.

Nutrition for Oral Health

Maintaining good oral health through diet involves consuming foods rich in calcium, such as dairy products, leafy greens, and fortified foods, to support strong teeth and bones. Incorporating vitamin C-rich fruits and vegetables like oranges, strawberries, and bell peppers aids in gum health and collagen production. Crunchy, fibrous foods like apples and carrots help clean teeth naturally by stimulating saliva production and scrubbing away plaque. Limiting sugary and acidic foods and beverages reduces the risk of tooth decay and enamel erosion. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps rinse away food particles and keeps the mouth hydrated, promoting overall oral health.

Reiki for Stress, Pain, and Tension Relief

In our fast-paced world, stress, tension, and pain often become unwelcome companions in the background of our daily lives. Reiki offers a natural and holistic approach to finding relief by guiding the body into deep relaxation. During a session the nervous system settles and pain signals fade, allowing the body to shift into a state of healing. Reiki helps clear stagnant energy, restoring balance and promoting self-recovery. At Healings for Beings, we know that energy healing is more than just a wellness trend, Reiki provides a pathway to greater ease and comfort, helping individuals reclaim a sense of well-being.

April Intuitive Insight

Oracle Card drawn by Lygia
Ramcharan – PASSION “Your passion brings you joy and now is the time to follow it! Be open to changes. New ideas, possibilities, and opportunities are surfacing. Choose what resonates with you. If you have felt stuck or suppressed by your current position, you must consider movement unless you remain affixed in your current state. When you follow your heart and do what you love, you listen to your inner guide, which will always lead you to experience more abundance and joy.”

Strong Today, Strong Tomorrow

Maintaining muscle and bone strength is one of the most powerful ways to stay active and independent as you age. Strong muscles support your joints, improve balance, and make everyday tasks—like climbing stairs or carrying groceries—easier and safer. At the same time, healthy bones provide the sturdy foundation your body depends on. Strength training with light weights or resistance bands, along with weight-bearing activities like walking or dancing, helps keep both muscles and bones resilient. Fueling your body with enough protein, calcium, and vitamin D adds even more protection. A little consistent effort goes a long way toward lifelong strength and confidence.

Can Spring Affect Sleep Apnea?

Spring allergies and sleep apnea are closely linked, as nasal congestion from allergic reactions can worsen breathing difficulties during sleep. Allergic rhinitis causes inflammation and swelling in the nasal passages, restricting airflow and increasing the likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Poor airflow forces individuals to breathe through their mouths, which can lead to dry mouth, snoring, and disrupted sleep. Additionally, allergies can contribute to airway inflammation, making apnea episodes more frequent and severe. Managing allergies with antihistamines, nasal sprays, and air purifiers can help reduce symptoms and improve sleep quality, leading to better overall health and well-being.
