Be Kind to Yourself

Silencing your inner critic takes time and practice, especially if yours has been taking centre stage. Maryse Cardin, author and motivational speaker from www.selftalklove.com, talks about how it is important to stop and take notice of what we are telling ourselves. Is what you’re saying encouraging, complimentary, or something you would say to your loved ones? If not, it’s time to turn the station and “switch the song.” Remember a happy time in your life. A time that fills you with joy. Maryse indicates that when we stop catastrophizing and instead tell ourselves what we are grateful for, we can soothe our systems.

Whole Body Wellness

Super Patch technology uses a special pattern to help you go from feeling blah to HUZZAH! When your skin comes in contact with the Super Patch ridge pattern, it triggers a response in the brain’s neural networks that helps you tackle your daily problems, head-on. The brain and nervous system processes that stimulation and a waterfall of wellness responses happen, from more energy to enhanced balance and quality of life. The effect is immediate, so you focus less on overcoming life challenges and more on living a happier, healthier life. The patches are designed to be safe and easy-to-use, every single day.

Selling a House

“I need to sell for more than it’s worth because I need the money.” Everyone deserves to get top dollar on the sale of their home, but some seek more for various reasons. Moving to an expensive retirement home, moving to a pricier area, and having to pay off debt. But does your buyer care? Buyers pay what they feel the house is worth (often trying for less) and won’t pay more just to help out a seller. Even if they did, a bank appraisal would likely prevent a sale. Would you pay more because the seller needs it?

Dentures & the Canadian Dental Care Plan

The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), Canada’s Universal Dental Care Plan, began on May 1st. At this moment, we are prioritizing patients seeking complete dentures, as the finer details of the plan are not yet fully clarified. For those considering partial dentures under the plan, we ask for patience until November. Specific coverage details vary based on individual circumstances, making it challenging to provide exact information to inquiring patients. Nonetheless, the plan aims to support many Canadians without private dental insurance. If you’re interested in discussing full denture replacement, please reach out for tailored information on your denture needs.

Critical Illness Protection

Alzheimer’s disease is a debilitating, very costly disease for families specially when it progresses and more care is needed. It can severely impact the person’s income-earning ability and deplete savings, placing financial strain on loved ones. Incorporating insurance into your financial planning strategy is crucial to mitigate these risks. Critical illness insurance and life insurance with living benefits are financial tools that can provide essential financial support in times of need. Contact me to learn more about your options.

Stephanie is Nanaimo’s only Certified Advanced RolferTM. She graduated from the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in 2015 and completed her advanced training in Germany in 2023. Stephanie is also a certified yoga instructor, which is a great combination for understanding how bodies move and function. Stephanie found Rolfing when she was searching for a solution to the issues she was having after a bunion surgery. She had tried everything she could think of, but nothing seemed to help. Three sessions of Rolfing fixed the problem for good and changed her life forever, as she decided that she wanted to be a Rolfer and help people too.

Managing Isn’t Living

“Isn’t it nice to go visit Dad? I wish I could see him more, but he seems to be managing.” What does managing look like to a senior? They manage to get up, get dressed, and get fed. They manage emails and telephone calls. How many of us equate managing with living? Comfort Keepers say ‘NO’ to senior isolation and loneliness through our companionship program. CK provides a FREE in-home assessment where we match personalities and provide companionship and confidence to your loved one so they may go back to doing what brings them joy. Reach out to us for more information.

Pick the Quiet Food

Grocery store items have health claims on everything from cereal and granola bars to drink mixes. Imagine if the produce section came with health claims on the carrots and broccoli. Beets would be covered in stickers exclaiming how good they are for you and your heart, and stickers about the high fibre content would be on everything. The same can be said about the grains and beans that can be found in the bulk section. Choose these quiet foods that contain an abundance of the vitamins, minerals, fibre, and protein that the loud foods are claiming they have.
