Here are some important resolutions to protect your skin in the new year!
1. Examine your skin for irregularities monthly, with some help from a trusted friend or family member for those hard-to-see spots.
2. Choose wisely what time of day you go out in the sun. Be sure to wear adequate protection such as a large-brimmed hat and sunscreen with a CDA logo on the label that offers both UVB/UVA protection (SPF 50 for summer, SPF 30 year-round).
3. See a board-certified dermatologist once a year for a medical assessment of moles and skin cancer risk, as well as to learn about options for improving your skin’s appearance.
Painful Feelings
Painful feelings command our attention – they can be so uncomfortable, and incredibly inconvenient. But what are they telling us? Is it that something is missing in your life? Are the feelings a signal for change, say in a job or a relationship? Are you healing from a loss? And what do you do about these painful feelings? Is there anyone you can share them with? Counselling is a safe, supportive, unbiased place to consider your full experience, and to develop a plan for yourself.
Give the Gift of Organic Beauty
Are you celebrating Valentine’s Day with a gift for your loved one or just planning to treat yourself? There are always the old, boring standbys of flowers and chocolates. Why not give luxurious skincare products that hydrate, nourish, and pamper the skin? When selecting gifts of beauty, look for natural, handcrafted skin products made with the purest organic essential oils, without harmful chemicals and allergens.
Fear of Falls Causes Unsafe Behavior
When someone is fearful of falling, they start to avoid everyday activities by staying at home and doing less. This lack of activity leads to loss of strength, reduced muscle tone, and loss of coordination and balance. This physical deterioration increases the risk of falling and if a fall does occur, it further heightens the fear. Turn your fear of falling into positive actions; remain active, exercise regularly, use assistive devices such as walkers or grab bars and wear sensible shoes. Consider joining a group session designed especially to teach balance exercises for fall prevention.
Take Care of Your Feet
Many of us neglect two of the most important body parts, our feet! Nursing Foot Care and Reflexology are great ways to take care of your feet. A reflexologist can recognize many types of foot ailments. Tender reflex spots in your feet can provide information about the condition of the corresponding organ. Nursing Foot Care is specialized care that focuses on education and maintaining mobility and independence. Treatments focus on reduction of nails (thick, malformed, regular care or with fungus), and the reduction or removal of calluses and corns. Reflexology and Nursing Foot Care promote prevention and good health. This helps keep people mobile which can result in longer independent living.
Do You Suffer from Dry Eyes?
Dry Eye symptoms include dryness, scratching, burning and a “foreign body sensation” caused by a chronic lack of sufficient lubrication of the eye’s front surface. Poor tear quality and/or quantity can also cause blurred vision and less enjoyment of visual tasks such as reading. Treatment options include lubricating eye drops, taking Omega-3 Fatty Acid supplements and applying a warm washcloth to the lids while lightly massaging to release oils from the glands along the eyelid rims. Visit your optometrist who can help identify the cause of your dry eye symptoms and recommend the best therapy options.

Many people turn to Bowen Therapy when other pain treatments have failed.
Laughter is the Goal
If you are looking for serious themes and messages in a theatrical production, keep looking. In the upcoming Norm Foster comedy “Self Help”, laughter is the goal. Norm Foster is considered the most produced playwright in Canada’s history. Differentiated from a comedy, a farce is a light, humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skillfully exploited situation rather than upon the development of character. As always NTG takes producing quality theatre very seriously with attention to every detail on stage and backstage including set, properties, costumes, lighting and sound.

Renew Your Skin for Spring
With the holidays over, we are looking forward to the renewal of spring! A medical grade chemical peel is a great way to renew your skin by improving skin texture and tone. By using a blend of acids chosen for your particular skin type and needs, they induce exfoliation and stimulate new cell growth. This process causes superficial layers of dead skin to peel, revealing a smoother, healthier, and improved, radiant complexion. Chemical peels can be done in a series or seasonally. Complimentary consultation are available with professional, licensed medical estheticians.
