Health researchers have established that 80% of the population will experience lower back pain sometime during their lives. This could be in short bouts of pain, as opposed to chronic, re-occurring pain. Lower back pain can severely limit what you can and cannot do and is commonly associated with spinal misalignments that not only cause pain, but also lead to disc degenerations and arthritis. Contrary to popular belief, these are not caused by the aging process. This condition is very treatable and is easily relieved using gentle chiropractic care to correct the cause of this distressing problem.
Do You Suffer From Hypertension?
Hypertension affects more than one in five Canadians. The Government of Canada states that it is the number one reason for taking medication. Unfortunately, many people have difficulty controlling their blood pressure even with conventional medical treatments. If the cause of your hypertension is due to plaque build-up in your arteries, very often it can be helped naturally. To determine if there is arterial narrowing and restricted blood flow, a simple, non-invasive test using digital pulsewave analysis can be performed. Depending on the results, specific nutritional formulations can be taken to open the arteries, thereby decreasing blood pressure.
Best Care For Your Needs
When do you need emergency care vs. outpatient care in a clinic or a house call? Many patients end up in emergency frustrated by the wait. The main reasons are that there are many other people who are also very sick, or your symptoms and condition are not necessarily considered emergent. When your condition is not emergent, you will generally wait a very long time in order to see a doctor. Try looking for care in the best setting that will serve your needs – walk-in, family doctor, emergency, or house call.
How Feelings Shape Your Reality
It is not enough just to choose “good feeling thoughts” and ignore the rest. Thoughts from fear-based feelings will continue to manifest in our lives, often in unexpected ways. It’s why “bad” things seem to happen to “good” people!
Love-based feelings completely neutralize a negative thought. Remember, any thought that you hold with feeling will become a thing! You can choose fear or love.
If you want to know what you’ve been thinking, look at your life today. Take fear-based feelings and replace them with love-based ones.
Body Image and Illness
Sometimes an illness changes the way we look. Sometimes it is the treatment that causes the changes. In the case of Cancer treatment, the most notorious and telltale sign is baldness. It makes us visible and vulnerable to the public. Hair loss may be temporary, but may seriously affect our body image, sexuality and sense of self. There are now new ways of preventing hair loss during cancer treatment so that you can maintain privacy about your illness and look and feel great about your appearance. The use of Scalp Cooling is proven to be an effective way of combatting cancer-related hair loss.

How to Prevent Golfer’s Elbow
Golfer’s elbow, also known as medial epicondylosis, is an overuse injury caused by overloading and/or repetitive stress to the flexor tendon. The common flexor tendon attaches to the end of the humeral bone at the inside of the elbow and is formed by muscles that flex the wrist and run along the length of the forearm. The ulnar nerve is near this tendon, and if it becomes irritated, you may experience numbness or tingling along the inside of the forearm and into the ring and pinky fingers. Doing strengthening exercises and stretches can help to prevent this tendon microtrauma.
Why Children Struggle to Read
We’ve all met them. The children who can’t stop fidgeting in their seats, who hold their heads way too close to their paper when copying, or who really struggle to learn to read, even though they are bright. Sadly, these children are likely the 1 in 4 who suffer from learning-related vision disorders. It is important that parents and teachers recognize the signs that indicate a vision problem (unrelated to glasses). Although a regular eye exam will determine the physical health of the eyes and any need for glasses, it does not evaluate the 16 other visual skills required for learning. To ensure a child is not suffering from a hidden visual dysfunction, a developmental visual evaluation is required.
Get Outdoors for Better Sleep
June is a great time to make improvements to your sleeping habits. With longer daylight hours and warmer temperatures, you can spend more time outdoors. Being outside in natural surroundings not only reduces stress, but the exposure to natural light helps to regulate your sleep and wake cycles. Take this opportunity every day to enjoy a walk in the park, a ride on your bike, gardening, or some other outside activity. More exposure to natural light during the day and less time in front of the TV/computer at night could go a long way to improving your sleep.
Exploring Food Sensitivities
Food sensitivity testing is a valuable tool used by many naturopathic doctors to improve overall health and wellness. A food sensitivity is very different from a food allergy – it is not life-threatening, and usually develops over a period of months or years. Food sensitivities can contribute to inflammation anywhere in the body, and can affect any body system. Common conditions like IBS, migraines, and weight gain often greatly improve when food sensitivity testing is used as part of a treatment plan. Consider visiting your local naturopathic doctor to explore if food sensitivity testing might be right for you.
