We all know how important it is to care for our physical and mental health, but it’s also important to check in on your social health. Social health is our ability to create meaningful and rewarding relationships with other people. Feeling connected makes us feel loved and valued and this in turn has a positive effect on our health. If you’re looking to improve your social health, consider signing up for a virtual or in-person class at a senior centre. Victoria Lifeline’s GoSafe personal help button can also help you feel safe while you look for ways to stay active and connected.

Osteoarthritis & Exercise
1 in 6 Canadian adults has arthritis, the majority being osteoarthritis (OA). OA is a disease of the joint cartilage with multiple contributing factors including genetics, previous joint injury, body weight and muscle weakness. Pain associated with OA may cause individuals to avoid physical activity which can lead to secondary complications and worsening of symptoms. Physiotherapists are experts in exercise prescription for conditions such as OA and can help you safely engage in exercise in a way that can decrease pain, increase strength, allow continued participation in activity and possibly prolong the life of your joint.

Thanks to our volunteers that made our on-site registration a success. Thanks to our talented bakers who supplied a bountiful array of scrumptious treats. It was great to see our members on site enjoying a beverage and a sweet treat in a safe environment during registration. We are finalizing our speaker bureau for our upcoming lunches and afternoon coffee with friends’ events.

Time for a Denture Reline?
Has it been some time since your last visit to the denture clinic? Most individuals will experience measurable change every two years with how dentures fit due to bone loss. Bone loss allows dentures to shift more when chewing which dramatically increases pressure and accelerates bone deterioration. Left unchecked, this loss can lead to fit issues and bone mass damage. Some indications that more significant bone loss has occurred are: *food entrapment under plates, *looser feel, *frequent sore spots or *less ability to chew. A reline procedure can be used to restore your denture back to proper function. Call us for more information.
